What is it about?

In this work I discuss the fundamental tensions between mathematical and cognitive/conceptual facets and properties of linguistic meaning. Then I offer some basic formulations and some conditions that can help arrive at the unification of the two apparently irreconcilable divergent representations of linguistic meaning.

Why is it important?

This work is important in the context of current theorizing on human language meaning within which two divergent frameworks/approaches for the mathematical and cognitive/conceptual aspects of linguistic meaning exist.

Perspectives

The tensions between formal semantics and cognitive/conceptual semantics can be somewhat neutralized if the desired unification is eventually achieved. This work shows one, if not the only one, way towards this goal.
