What is it about?
More knowledge about the interaction between young children with autism spectrum disorder and their caregivers is one way to improve intervention. This study aims to investigate the behaviors of preschool teachers/mothers and children with autism spectrum disorder during joint engagement, with a focus on pacing their behaviors when being in this state.

Why is it important?
Working with caregivers and young children with autism on strategies to increase time in joint engagement seems to be effective.
Perspectives
I think employing The JASPER Model (a play-based intervention method) to enhance joint attention behavior in young children with autism is a promising approach to intervention.
