What is it about?

We characterized HSP90 as a target gene of hedgehog signaling. Its interaction with HIF-1α plays a key role in hepatic stellate cell-mediated liver angiogenesis. We also translated the discoveries into therapeutic approaches by identifying ligustrazine as a hedgehog inhibitor capable of reducing the angiogenic properties of hepatic stellate cells, suggesting that selective inhibition of hedgehog singaling in hepatic stellate cells represents a promising option for hepatic fibrosis.
