What is it about?
We manipulate a specific plasmid of the yeast Yarrowioa lipolytica to generate dsRNA that is the silencing of an essential gene of white spot virus in order to prevent its replication and fight the disease in the cultured shrimp Litopenaerus vannamei. The yeast produced dsRNA at decrease of illness in a bioassay.

Why is it important?
The production of dsRNA in an in vivo system can help lower the production costs of antiviral synthesis and its incorporation into the diet.
Perspectives
It is proposed to optimize production, reducing the activity of enzymes that degrade the dsRNA within the yeast.
