What is it about?
Muscle cramps are common in individuals with chronic liver disease. The results of our randomised placebo controlled study demonstrated that oral supplementation with 2g taurine/day reduces the frequency of muscle cramps in this group.

Why is it important?
There is little evidence to support previous treatments for muscle cramps in this group. Our study provided evidence that taurine supplements reduce the number of cramps experienced by this group of individuals.
