What is it about?

We have developed a new method to study DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), which are among he most cytotoxic DNA lesions. Currently available methods to detect DNA DSBs rely on the presence of DNA damage markers, that are recruited at the lesion sites, without direct evidence of the DNA DSBs. With our strategy, we can directly detect physical DNA DSBs in close proximity to a DNA damage marker. Here, we applied our new method to study DNA DSBs in senescent cells and tissues.
