What is it about?
Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) was developed to research on pain catastrophizing and and its impact on pain experience. The psychometric properties of the questionnaire has been validated at least in 10 other languages. We translated and validated to Bengali version of PCS for the Bengali speaking people all over the world which is the 7th most frequently spoken language who suffer from chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Why is it important?
Chronic musculoskeletal pain is a burden for the patients. Pain catastrophizing causes a negative mental setting to bear pain and increases pain feelings from 7% to 33%. Pain catastrophizing has been associated with poor response to pain treatment and prolongs pain episodes. Bengali is the 7th language according to population with 265 Bengali speaking people worldwide. So a culturally adapted and validated version of Bengali Pain Catastrophizing Scale is required to apply the scale who suffer from chronic musculoskeletal pain and other medical conditions.
