Primary aspergillosis of kidney in SLE and PET-CT

What is it about?

We report a case of a woman with systemic lupus erythematosus with recent history of lymphoma, who presented with a history of prolonged pyrexia without localizing symptoms. Repeat biopsy of the kidneys was crucial in obtaining histological diagnosis, and this was aided by findings on positron emission tomography – computed tomography.

Why is it important?

The utility of PET-CT in guiding the biopsy of the culprit lesion was highlighted in this case.
