What is it about?

There are numerous documented evidence of pharmacist contributions to type 2 diabetes care. However, there is a lack of structured and consistent approach. Hence, outcomes vary from significant difference to minimal difference. We used the Simpler tool to provide structured approach to diabetes care. This method improved patients' clinical and quality of life outcomes.

Why is it important?

The prevalence of diabetes is of an increasing trend. Of concern is the rise of diabetes related complications. Our study found that using a structured approach may facilitate pharmacists working in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to achieve therapeutic targets and prevent complications.

Readers who are involved with diabetes care as healthcare provider or researchers will find this article interesting. It is a novel approach and I hope they may find it beneficial in their own practice settings.
