What is it about?

Automatic determination of channel boundaries in seismic data is important from both reservoir and hazard perspectives. Shearlet transform is a novel technique to decompose data into different frequency bands and directions. Then, applying common image processing algorithms, we can delineate channel edges at the finest scale (which contains highest frequencies).

Why is it important?

This study leads to novel idea of automatic detection of channel edges based on multi-scale and multi-directional shearlet transform.

Perspectives

It was a great pleasure for me writing this article and publishing it in Geophysical Prospecting as a journal with high standards. The process of reviewing the paper helped me improve it significantly.
