What is it about?

The presented estimator is an algorithm which uses the current measurements and the reference voltages as input data to estimate the position and the speed of a synchronous motor.

Why is it important?

An estimator, also called software sensor, helps cost reduction particularly appreciated in automotive industry. The algebraic estimator detailed in the paper, reaches high precision and doesn't require a complex algorithm.

Perspectives

The need of effective and low cost solutions is increasing with the growing vehicles electrification.
