What is it about?

This paper explains how group can influence individuals' and groups' energy behaviours. It provides an easy-to-read overview of the literature on how groups influence individuals' and groups' behaviours and applied this specifically to energy behaviours.

Why is it important?

For energy transitions to be successful, people need to change as well. They need to accept novel solutions, change their energy behaviours, and adopt new technologies and policies. Groups strongly impact individuals and can motivate large scale change. Accordingly, to facilitate change, groups should be taken into account.

Perspectives

I enjoyed writing this paper as it applies knowledge from social sciences to the energy domain, offering concrete advice for electricity and power professionals. Moreover, since it was written for non social scientists, the paper offers an easy-to-read and accessible introduction to the group-processes literature within environmental psychology.
