What is it about?

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) is employed to monitor and control ESP wells offshore in real time. It consists of three main parts, Master Terminal Unit, Remote Terminal Unit, and communication media (link). MTU controls the communication by sending commands (queries). RTU responds to the command and send the condition of the plant. Communication between them uses Modbus protocol communication rules.

Why is it important?

Improvement of communication network reliability at offshore pumping wells using SCADA along with it's remote maintenance by introducing the IoT

Perspectives

we hope this article will give a solution for problems faced by monitoring and control system at Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) wells offshore in PHE ONWJ which had been the unreliability of communication network and random delays, which result in some data from ESP wells, were not saved by the database.
