Why is it important?

Epoxy resins are usually brittle and prone to cracking. In order to improve their mechanical properties, various fillers can be used. The use of zeolites as fillers in epoxy matrix can catalyze the curing reaction of epoxy resin. The study of mechanical properties of the epoxy composites filled with zeolite particles showed that Young modulus increased with increasing the zeolite content, while tensile strength and impact stress decreased because of the residual stress at the interface. In order to improve the zeolite compatibility with polymer matrix and mechanical properties, surface modification aluminum oxyhydroxide nanofibers was made.
