How to estimate the position and the speed of a synchronous motor using an algebraic approach

Why is it important?
Rotor position must be known to control a synchronous machine. Usually measured, the position can be estimated to save a sensor. Estimators, also called software sensors, need to be precise and as simple as possible. The algebraic estimator presented in this paper combines the two advantages.
