What is it about?
We are analysing the influence of different design factors on the maximum reachable strains for an equibiaxial dielectric elastomer actuator (DEA). The design factors analyzed in the study are the dielectric elastomer thickness, the electrode radius and the pre-stretch. For the analysis, a full factorial design without and with interactions and a fractional factorial design are choosen.

Why is it important?
The study enables to quantify the influence of the different design factors and their interactions and presents a selection of statistically relevant factors and interactions. The fractional factorial design allows the reduction of the number of measurements without loosing main aspect of the study.
Perspectives
This study provides a valuable insight into the influencing factors and interactions for equibiaxial dielectric elastomer actuators.
