What is it about?

Stroke is the trajectory of points from pen-down to pen-up. One character may be written with more than one stroke. More than one character may be written using a single stroke. Number of strokes and order of strokes vary from writer to writer. Even the same writer can write the same word with different stoke-numbers and stroke-orders. Here, we propose a simple, intuitive but effective scheme for normalization of stroke-order and stroke-number in writing. Hence, from now on, characters and words written with any stoke-numbers and stroke-orders can be recognized easily.

Why is it important?

To the best of our knowledge, no work has been reported on stroke-order normalization for any Indic script though it is an important aspect of online recognition.

Perspectives

I enjoyed this work. To the best of our knowledge this is the first work on Indic script, and in future, we plan to work on other Indic scripts using a similar idea.
