What is it about?

Abstract: A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is valuable for data aggregation and communication in an Internet of Things environment. Nowadays secure routing approaches incorporate trust management and encryption but raise complexity and delay.

Why is it important?

Thus, a lightweight effective optimization approach that jointly addresses energy efficiency, data collection, and secure routing is required. To tackle these issues, this work proposes Manta ray foraging optimization-based data collection point selection with mobile sink for secure routing in WSN (MDCP). This approach uses the data collection point (DCP) to minimize the burden of sensor nodes and increase energy efficiency.

Perspectives

The DCP is selected by the Manta Ray Foraging Optimization (MRFO) algorithm fitness function, and it is computed by sensor node energy, link quality, distance, and packet delay. The Mobile Sink (MS) visit every DCP based on travelling salesman problem (TSP). The integration of MRFO with MS routing effectively balances energy utilization, allowing efficient adaptation to topology changes. The Faith Value (FV) reflects reliability and levels of cooperation in WSNs. Secure-aware routing evades malicious nodes lacking cryptographic overhead. In addition, MDCP is scalable and appropriate for large-scale WSN placements. Simulation results illustrate that the MDCP approach improved the WSN lifetime and reduced the network delay.
