What is it about?
We present a theoretical description of the Attenuated Laser (AL) compared to a HSPS model and show how to obtain the mean photon number value for both of them, as well as the probabilities of obtaining one photon and more than a photon per pulse.

Based on an optimized attack strategy, we show that the HSPS offers a better security for the BB84 protocol than the AL.
