Why is it important?

The lack of Information and Technology Governance capabilities in boards, globally, continues to be a problem. This is because business and IT governance became inextricably linked at board level, in the early 2000s. Yet, as recently as 2017, large-scale global surveys conducted by international consulting firms continue to suggest as many as 80% + of corporate boards have inadequate I&T governance capability.

Perspectives

As recently as 2017, large-scale global surveys conducted by international consulting firms continue to suggest as many as 80% + of corporate boards have inadequate I&T governance capability. Further, this Capability impacts all disciplines - finance, marketing, HR, operations and IT. It is not enough for directors to ask IT related questions. They must have enough knowledge, skills and experience in I&T Governance to understand what management and consultants are presenting to them.
