What is it about?
This work deals with the grid tied PV (Photovoltaic) –BES (Battery Energy Storage) system, which ensures an uninterrupted power to the dedicated loads with seamless transfer capability and power quality enhancement features at distorted grid voltage conditions. The PV-BES system supports the grid during peak load hours, and charges the BES at light load conditions such as in night hours. The centre frequency digital bandpass filter (CFDBPF) based algorithm, and the grid voltage in-phase unit template are utilized to control the PV-BES system in the battery charging mode, and to address the grid power quality concerns. The tuning of parameters, is not required in this control, and it enables easy implementation. The load voltage magnitude and nature are regulated by the voltage control in islanded mode of operation. The DC link is supported by a battery, which provides uninterrupted power to dedicated loads in absence of PV panel power generation and the utility. The synchronization mode control ensures smooth transfer from the synchronized mode to standalone mode and vice versa.
