Why is it important?
An important security application is to recognize whether a face image belongs to a large database. Also, image similarity is important for medical diagnosis and other applications.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations. This article also leads to rare methods for image recognition based on similarity because the authors using a "combination approach" for the first time in the image similarity community.
