What is it about?

We introduce a feedback control for the stabilization of forming processes to ensure suitable microstructure of the formed workpiece. The feedback control is applied at the boundary and exponential stabilization of stationary states is established. The theoretical findings are confirmed by numerical simulations.

Why is it important?

There is high demand on weight reduction concerning all parts of an airplane. For this reason special metal alloys are used which are extremely durable. Furthermore, due to high costs, it is necessary to reduce waste of these special materials. Therefore a very efficient and precise production control is important.

Perspectives

In the future we want to transfer our findings to other processes, such as additive manufacturing since the results hold for rather general Hamilton-Jacobi equations.
