What is it about?
This is a high gain beam-forming array, to transmit and steer the direction of a beam in the direction of a particular user. The beamforming array is a new area in mobile communication. This array is composed of 64 patch antennas using easy fabrication etching technology. The array requires only 8 phase shifters/beam ports to steer its beam in any direction between the range of +60 to -60 degree.

Why is it important?
At 28 GHz, Beamforming Electronic circuitry cost is very high. The series-fed- array based base station requires only 8 phase-shifters or 8-port Beam Forming Network. hence the cost is reduced
Perspectives
The research work carried out was quite challenging, however, the co-authors/co-supervisors have helped me a lot. I learned very much from Professor Kunio Sakakibara, Nagoya Institute of Technology Japan, Yoshihide Yamada, Malaysia Japan international institute of Technology, University Teknologi Malaysia, and of course Prof. Tharek Abdul Rahman being a bridge to collaborate and learn from them
