What is it about?
Computer-based simulation and experimental tests are required for testing new devices and their control before practical installations. This paper bridges these two approaches for estimating the resonances in the range of (10-50 Hz) in electric power systems.

Why is it important?
New devices and control systems are foreseen to be installed in the alternating current (AC) power grids. High voltage direct current (HVDC) is a frontrunner among them, which is highly reliable and connected in parallel with AC grids. Establishing a smooth operation of these devices is the key objective from the utilities and owners so as to maximise their benefits.
Perspectives
The objective of this article is to identify the challenges associated with determining the resonant frequencies in an electric transmission network with series-compensation. There is not always one solution which fits for all problems and, therefore, we focussed on estimating the frequency components in the range of (10-45 Hz).
