What is it about?
This photovoltaic (PV)-battery-small hydro system secures electricity to dedicated loads at the presence of at least one energy source. A new control algorithm is used to estimate harmonic free load current amplitude for single phase PV-BES-small hydro system with synchronization capability. This ensures sinusoidal utility network current, while nonlinear load is connected at PCC. The preset utility grid power mode and variable utility network power mode efficiently manage the power leveling of utility grid, thus, support the utility grid at peak load hours. The ancillary functions of load current harmonics compensation, and DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Compensator) operation enhances the utility of the VSC (Voltage Source Converter). The voltage control at an islanded mode, and the mode transition control ensure transient free switching between the modes, thus, protect the sensitive load. The single point operation of the hydro generator enhances the efficiency of the induction generator. This system response in utility grid tied mode, an islanded mode, and hydro power generator mode at presence of BES (Battery Energy Storage) and absence of BES is adhered the IEEE-1547 standard of DES integration.
