What is it about?

This paper provides fresh knowledge and relevant contributions for the practice of innovation and entrepreneurship by describing the use of ideaChef® method and tool. ideaChef® is based on creative problem solving, design thinking and gamification methodologies. It was created to close the engagement and creativity gap in idea development i.e. to maximize user’ motivation and involvement with the organization they work for or with.

Why is it important?

ideaChef® enables project teams (3 up to 6 team members) to convert ideas into projects or working concepts/prototypes. It can be used to address concrete challenges in an open and innovative thinking atmosphere and contributes to overcome difficulties of other ideation tools and methods such as: lack of structure and contextualization; need for legitimacy and involvement; disconnection between thinking and doing; too much focus on top-down approach.

Perspectives

From my personal perspective, gamification is the best approach to address concrete corporate innovation and entrepreneurship challenges in an open, collaborative and innovative thinking atmosphere. Gamification and ideaChef® in particular increases motivation, alignment and engagement; promotes team spirit and consensus building; and supports knowledge building and creative thinking.
