What is it about?

Although the hospitality industry significantly contributes to employment and economic growth, the activities of the sector have a negative impact on the environment. The results of this study reveal positive relationships between training interns and developing them as future stewards of sustainability and in so doing, contributing to meeting sustainability development goals. Currently though, industry practices and initiatives even when present and functional are not flowing down to interns. It was also apparent from the findings that if the present generation is involved and trained, they can be expected to make real efforts to create a sustainable future. Hence, it is important that hotel training and development managers develop innovative training programs or modify the existing ones to address this gap.
