What is it about?
This perspective article suggests critical and integrative literature reviews to consolidate concepts, models, theories, taxonomies and typologies for more holistic theories. Such literature reviews can identify paradigmatic commensurabilities and thus instill researchers with the needed “confidence that they were on the right track” or reveal incommensurabilities, anomalies, and thus the need for scientific revolutions (Kuhn, 1970, p.17), and guide them towards more holistic research to make sense of the world rather than “behave like lunatics” (Huxley, 1932, p.270).
