Overcoming overtourism: a review of failure

What is it about?

Overtourism has become a major issue in a number of tourist destinations, reflecting resident concerns over tourist numbers and behaviour. To date, almost all efforts to resolve this problem have been unsuccessful and the paper discusses why this has come about and what needs to be done to more effectively control tourism in order to prevent or mitigate overtourism.
