What is it about?

Organisational effectiveness can be improved by reducing preventable waste. Employee engagement emerged as a mechanism to improve organisational effectiveness, especially its dimensions organisational strategy and implementation, organisational commitment and team commitment. These dimensions are all at a level broader than the individual level of engagement. Leadership and management can use the levers of motivation, i.e. the need for competence, autonomy and relatedness, to activate psychological presence, via the structural dimensions of organisation, to improve coordination and cooperation. Psychological presence drives employee engagement which facilitates strategy implementation and thus organisational effectiveness. The secondary general management tasks, specifically motivation and communication are important in activating psychological presence. Better use of communication, especially online/social media can make communication more visible and two-way.
