Tesla, Inc.: addressing ESG challenges

What is it about?

ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) is currently a hot button issue. Tesla, a manufacturer of electric cars, was recently thrown out of an ESG index due to a variety of issues on all three aspects of ESG. This caught the attention of Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO and a popular and outspoken figure in the cultural wars prevailing in the USA. Tesla's board has to respond to the negative sentiment surrounding the company's ESG practices because the sentiment had a financial consequence for the company.
