What is it about?

Various methods have been presented to improve selectivity and sensitivity of resistive gas sensors. Fluctuation-enhaned gas sensing (low frequency resistance noise) was applied at modulated conditions (UV light irradiating the sensor, different operating temperatures).

Why is it important?

Resistive gas sensors are very popular but their selectivity is very limited. The proposed method can improve gas detection using a single gas sensor. It means reduction of costs and energy consumption.

Perspectives

This is one of a few papers considering fluctuation-enhanced method in various gas sensing layers. Some of them exhibit photocatalytic phenomena and can improve significantly gas detection.
