What is it about?

Rhodopsin is a biological pigment in photoreceptor cells. In nature it is used to sense light signals and produce energy for the cell from light source. In this paper ultra sensitive photoelectric senors are constructed by extracting this pigment from bacteria cells

Why is it important?

In this work a new and simple pigment extraction and sensor construction procedure is proposed to achieve the corresponding transducers with fewer steps.

Perspectives

The given work can pave the path for low cost ultra sensitive light sensors
