Leaders need to read the situation, create safe conditions for learning and decide when to experiment and when to standardize. Reviewing recent research, this paper offers a four‑proposition framework showing how adaptive leadership helps organizations shift their mix of innovation initiatives and resources to fit the context, while balancing psychological safety with disciplined alignment.
