Why is it important?

Those in administrative positions in academe, such as department chairs, provosts, chancellors, program directors, and presidents, usually come from the ranks of the faculty. These people are domain experts (i.e. chemistry, literature, engineering, economics). However, until very recently few have had the administrative training they need to navigate the complexity of managing in academe. This brief bibliography adds to the growing body of training resources designed for such people.
