A scalable mass customisation design process for 3D-printed respirator mask to combat COVID-19

What is it about?

3D printed custom-fit respirator mask has been proposed as a promising solution to alleviate mask-related injuries and supply shortage during COVID-19. However, the existing manual design process is not cost and time efficient for a pandemic crisis. We presents a novel and scalable mass customization design process which can be automated and generate a custom-fit respirator mask CAD model within a few minutes, thereby enabling mass customization of face masks via additive manufacturing to combat current and future pandemic crises.
