What is it about?

The use of ECM software applications in organizations has been a topic that has generated significant discussion. While several scholars have offered guidance on implementing ECM, there is still a gap when it comes to assessing the benefits of such implementations. One way to address this gap is through the use of maturity models which measure an organization's level of maturity in managing their enterprise content. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of another maturity model called ECM3 as a tool for assessing how well an organization manages its enterprise content.

Why is it important?

The research provides a distinct examination of the potential effectiveness of ECM3 as a maturity model for evaluating the implementation of ECM. This was achieved through a thorough analysis, which involved comparing it to various existing maturity models utilized by records professionals. Additionally, two surveys were conducted to gather data and insights: one among South African institutions and another administered by the Real Story Group. By employing these methods, the study sheds light on how ECM3 can serve as an effective tool for assessing ECM implementation.

Perspectives

I conducted with the aim of answering two interrelated inquiries. The first inquiry focused on evaluating the effectiveness of ECM3 in a South African setting, while the second inquiry aimed to investigate whether other maturity models for ECM implementation can be utilized and provide valuable insights to enhance ECM3.
