We surveyed finance professors in the US to understand their career choices and job satisfaction. Key findings: (1) Pay, location, and alignment with research expectations are top factors for job satisfaction; (2) family and personal needs grow in importance later in their careers; (3) perceptions of gender-based unfairness lower satisfaction; and (4) the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped work dynamics, affecting job demands.
