What is it about?
Many studies about transgender people focus primarily on white and binary experiences, often emphasizing concepts like "passing" to discuss how individuals safely navigate public spaces like bathrooms. In my autoethnography, I explore how my identity as a Black trans* femme influences my choice to use the men's restrooms, highlighting a unique experience stemming from my intersectional trans* embodiment and queer troublemaking. By integrating Black feminist thought and Black fugitivity, I argue for gender-neutral spaces and emphasize the need to study the intersection of gender, race, and class in understanding what it means to be trans beyond vulnerability.
