What is it about?
This study examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is affecting online learning communities in Thailand, specifically looking at how AI impacts learner independence, the collaboration of learners, and access to educational resources. While AI can help personalize learning and make it more accessible, it also creates some challenges. For example, AI can limit a learner’s ability to explore new ideas by always suggesting similar content, which can reduce their freedom to make decisions about their learning. The study also found that learners in rural areas face difficulties accessing AI-based education due to poor internet connections and lack of digital tools. The findings suggest that AI needs to be designed in a way that helps all learners, especially those in less-developed areas, and encourages learners to think critically, rather than just following AI-generated recommendations. The study offers important recommendations for educators, policymakers, and AI developers to ensure that AI in education is used fairly and effectively for all learners.
