What is it about?

Oral language is an important basis for literacy learning throughout the school years. This paper expands on what is meant by 'oral language' in linguistically diverse contexts such as Australia. At a time in which policy and practice in Anglophone countries is narrowing the dimensions of literacy learning, it is important that the complex dimensions of oral language are properly understood.
