What is it about?

Pensions, insurance and savings plans rely on wise investment decisions by major institutions. Given that flood risk is predicted to increase in the UK, how do managers of large investment funds approach decisions about the risk level to property to be bought and held within the fund portfolio.

Why is it important?

There have been major flood events in the UK in 2007, 2010 and 2013-14. Until this research there had been very little investigation into how major investors understand flood risk and select which property to buy or retain. The research explores the approach they are taking, improvements in understanding flood risk and ways of mitigating this risk as an aid to decision making.
