What is it about?
Since the murder of George Floyd, there have been extensive reports of large numbers of police officers voluntarily choosing to leave the profession due to increased occupational risk and a lack of public support. Using survey data from the New York City Police Department, we show that job satisfaction and work place factors, such as financial compensation, work-life balance, and a clean work environment are linked to lower levels of turnover intention.
