What is it about?

At a time when there are many questions being asked about how research can be communicated more cost effectively and efficiently through online services and repositories, this article looks at how university institutional repositories have changed the scholarly communication landscape so far and how they may change them more in the future.

The research takes an objective view of the influence of institutional repositories, based on a set of interviews with librarians from different parts of the world, and assesses the relationship with other publishing partners in scholarly communication.
