What is it about?

Videogame-based treatments show great promise in helping to reduce symptoms across a range of mental health conditions. In this paper we present a preliminary trial of a novel gamified treatment for mobile devices aimed at anxiety in adolescence, finding the game made significant reductions to anxiety in both clinical and subclinical samples.

Why is it important?

Games are an accessible and engaging way of encouraging people to engage in the therapeutic process. Previous research also suggests they can be helpful in reducing symptoms. This trial, and its findings, provide an initial insight into how a mobile game, designed with adolescents, might be useful in reducing their anxiety and encouraging them to engage with scientifically proven therapies.
