What is it about?

This study explores how everyday lifestyle habits affect mental health among students and staff at the American University of Sharjah. We surveyed 451 participants to understand their levels of anxiety and depression and how these related to diet, exercise, and rest. We found that young people, especially female students, were more likely to experience mental health challenges. Healthy habits like regular physical activity, nutritious eating, and adequate rest were linked to better mental well-being. Our findings highlight the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles in universities to support mental health and reduce stress and depression in academic settings.
