What is it about?
As rates of mental illness rise, more families rely on the emergency department for care. However, many families are discouraged as they are not receiving the type of care they desire. This research looks at understanding the role of peer support workers and how they may improve the care for children, youth and their families. We show that peer support could improve child, youth and family experiences, reduce stigma and put hope and help right into the emergency department.
