The impact of SMEs’ sustainability on competitiveness

What is it about?

The literature highlights the importance of firms affected and affecting sustainability, and governments are urgently calling for sustainability transformation. However, recent research has demonstrated that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), focused on survival and competitiveness, questioned the impact of this necessary transformation. Therefore SMEs present low commitment and maturation levels on sustainability. So then, this research aims to measure the impact that SMEs’ sustainability has on their competitiveness. Thus, 325 surveys were applied to SMEs with a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. Finally, the results demonstrated a highly significant sustainability effect on competitiveness with critical insights.
