What is it about?

Based on literature review various factors and issues influencing strategic performance management (SPM) implementation were summarised. Oil and natural gas business is capital intensive and risky and Indian oil firms were early adopters of strategic performance management such as balanced scorecard, dashboard, performance bench-marking, service level agreements etc. Literature review found to be lacking in study of SPM implementation in Indian oil sector. Hence empirical study was conducted to find out various SPM implementation issues and how they impact the effectiveness of SPM system in driving performance measurement and management in Indian Oil sector.

The study highlighted important aspects of SPM implementation issues and critical success factors of SPM system implementation in line with findings by other studies.

Perspectives

This was very interesting study and outcome was very satisfactory as main critical success factors and implementation issues which came out of this study were inline with previous studies in other sectors.
